5 Captains pick their ‘Players To Watch’ in WPL 2024

The captains of all 5 teams of WPL 2024 i.e. Alyssa Healy (UP Warriorz), Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals), Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Beth Mooney (Gujarat Giants), Harmanpreet Kaur (Mumbai Indians) in a captains event before the start of the season, named players to watch out for from their respective franchises.

Alyssa Healy of UP Warriorz has picked Poonam Khemnar, a young rising talent who has taken consistent wickets throughout the domestic circuit and can play a crucial role in helping UP Warriorz win games. Shweta Sehrawat, a prolific top-order batter has performed well, coming up the ranks from U-19 and then in domestic. Kiran Navgire, who showed glimpses of her talent in the previous season with the bat, feels she could do very well coming into the WPL 2024 season.

Meg Lanning of Delhi Capitals has picked Minnu Mani, the batter with both styles of play according to the situation of the game, who can come out as a key player for the team. Arundhati Reddy, who has been playing for a while now has been effective with her bowling, troubling the batters at the top with the new ball. Titas Sadhu, a young fast-bowler from Bengal who has impressed everyone with her fast bowling in her brief career can be a proven match-winner for her team in the upcoming WPL 2024 season.

Smriti Mandhana of Royal Challengers Bangalore has picked Shreyanka Patil, the emerging all-rounder who made her international debut in December 2023 and is also a gun fielder, counted on to play a major role in the team’s success. Richa Ghosh, for her recent batting form and the maturity she’s developed in adapting to the match situation, comes out to be a key player for the team. Sophie Molineux, an effective left-arm spinner and a useful batter, if the situation requires, can be a good all-round option if the team requires.

Harmanpreet Kaur of Mumbai Indians has picked Amandeep Kaur, a unique left-arm wrist spinner who can be very useful with the angle she brings in and her wicket-taking ability. Keerthana Balakrishnan, a rising leg-spinner from Tamil Nadu who can very well beat the batters with her skills, will be a good choice for the team in the tournament. S Sajana, a handy player both with the bat and ball, stands out to be a crucial player in providing balance to the team.

Beth Mooney of Gujarat Giants has picked Phoebe Litchfield, a prolific batter who can bat according to the situation and has played well in a few T20Is she has played to date and can be a vital player to add up in the Gujarat Giants squad. Tanuja Kanwar, a young emerging spinner who can spin the game for her team and add up the experience from the previous season, can also be an emerging player for the team. Harleen Deol, an attacking batter and a gun fielder on the boundary ropes, can be a proven match-winner for her team in the upcoming WPL 2024 season.
