Bollywood celebs are all set to grace the opening ceremony of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024.
The 2nd edition of the Women’s Premier League is now just one sleep away. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming edition of the tournament. The Inaugural edition of the tournament was a blockbuster success. Multiple Bollywood celebrities namely, Tiger Shroff, Sidharth Malhotra, Kartik Aaryan, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor, and Shah Rukh Khan will be gracing the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of the WPL ahead of the opening encounter between the defending champions Mumbai Indians led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and the runners-up Delhi Capitals led by skipper Meg Lanning to kickstart the 2nd edition of the tournament on 23rd February 2024 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Bollywood actress Kiara Advani graced the opening ceremony of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League on 4th March 2023 ahead of the opening encounter between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants last season at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Mumbai Indians led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur claimed the Inaugural title by defeating the Delhi Capitals led by skipper Meg Lanning by 7 wickets in the final.
The Delhi Capitals skipper Meg Lanning was the orange cap holder with the most number of runs in the tournament with 345 runs to her name with an average of 49.28 in 9 innings. The Mumbai Indians all-rounder and the West Indian captain Hayley Matthews was the purple cap holder with the joint-highest number of wickets with an impressive average of 12.62 in 10 innings (16) alongside Sophie Ecclestone in the inaugural edition of the WPL.
The 2nd edition of the Women’s Premier League will be broadcast on Sports 18 and the digital streaming will be available on Jio Cinema. The WPL 2024 opening ceremony will commence at 6:30 PM IST. “Ye Kingdom nahi, Ab Queendom hai.” is a promotional campaign and the theme for the 2nd edition of the WPL which celebrates the prowess and the potential of women’s cricket.

The matches (1-11) in the first half of the season will take place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from 23rd February 2024 to 4th March 2024. The matches (12th-20th) in the 2nd half of the tournament including the eliminator and the final will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from 5th March 2024 to 17th March 2024.
