Brief History of Germany Women’s National Cricket Team
The German women’s national cricket team represents Germany in international women’s cricket matches. Organized by the German Cricket Federation, the team has been an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1999, after previously being an affiliate member from 1991 to 1999.
Historical highlights – Germany Women’s National Cricket Team
In 2011, Germany finished as runner-up to Jersey in the European Women’s Cricket Festival held in Utrecht, Netherlands.
In April 2018, the ICC granted Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members, making all Twenty20 matches played between Germany and other ICC members after 1 July 2018 WT20I matches. Germany played their first-ever WT20I match on 26 June 2019, during the opening fixture of the 2019 ICC Women’s Qualifier Europe tournament. Germany debuted against Scotland at La Manga Club Ground, Cartagena, on 26 June 2019.

2022 Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament:
Germany was invited to the 2022 Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament in Rwanda, becoming one of the first two non-African teams to participate in the tournament alongside Brazil. Following seven consecutive defeats in the round-robin stage, Germany managed to defeat Botswana in the seventh-place play-off.
ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Europe Qualifier:
In 2019, Germany competed alongside the Netherlands and Scotland, playing two matches against each team. They couldn’t secure a victory, finishing third and failing to qualify further.
In 2021, Germany participated in the Europe Qualifier against Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands, and France. They managed one victory, defeating France by nine wickets, and finished fourth on the table with 2 points.
In 2023, the qualification pathway for the women’s event in Europe was expanded, including a second division for the first time. Placed in Division Two, Germany managed three wins in five matches but finished fourth, failing to qualify for Division One.
