Pakistan top-order batter Gull Feroza has been fined 10% of her match fee and handed one demerit point after breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the ongoing 6th edition of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup, hosted by the United Arab Emirates for the first time, from 28th August to 13th September 2026 group clash against Hong Kong in Dubai on Monday, 7 September 2026.
The 27-year-old admitted to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8, showing dissent at an umpire’s decision, and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das, avoiding a formal hearing. Pakistan, who won the match by 72 runs, finished second in Group A with two victories from three games and will now face Chamari Athapaththu’s Sri Lanka in the second semi-final at the same venue on 11 September.
The breach occurred in the fifth over of Pakistan’s innings when Gull, adjudged leg-before wicket, gestured towards her bat to indicate an edge and expressed dissent toward the on-field umpire’s decision. On-field umpires Rabab Ahsan and Rokeya Sultana, third umpire Shivani Mishra, and fourth umpire Shathira Jakir levelled the charge, which falls under Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. Level 1 offences carry a minimum sanction of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points; in this case, the panel imposed a 10% fine and one demerit point.
This is Gull Feroza’s second offence within a 24-month period, taking her tally to two demerit points in the current cycle. Her first demerit point came during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup league match against Australia on 23 June, also for a Level 1 breach. Accumulating demerit points can lead to suspensions if a player reaches the threshold set by the ICC, making discipline a key focus for senior players in high-stakes tournaments.
Despite the disciplinary headline, Pakistan’s on-field performance remained strong. Led by skipper Fatima Sana, they recorded two wins in three Group A fixtures: a 35-run victory over Thailand, a 72-run win against Hong Kong, and a seven-wicket defeat to India. Finishing second in the group sets up a high-pressure semi-final against Sri Lanka, a side renowned for Athapaththu’s match-winning ability and are currently the defending champions of the tournament.
For Pakistan, maintaining composure, both tactically and disciplinarily, will be crucial as they bid to reach the final on 13th September 2026.
