The third place play-off match of the 2022 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier will be played between Thailand and Zimbabwe on September 25 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The game will begin at 4.30 PM IST.

Both teams lost their semi-finals on September 23. While Thailand lost to Bangladesh by 11 runs, Zimbabwe went down to Ireland by four runs in a nail-biting thriller.

Players to watch

Natthakan Chantham:

The right-handed top-order batter of Thailand won the player of the match in her last game against Bangladesh. She muscled 64 off 51, including four boundaries and three sixes, to lead the run chase from the front. It was her fifth T20I half-century. She almost saw her team home. However, in the end, they fell shy of just 11 runs, chasing 114.

Rosenan Kanoh: 

The right-arm off-spinner of Thailand picked up 13/1 in her full quota of four overs in her last outing against Bangladesh. She accounted for the key wicket of captain Nigar Sultana in the 14th over. She bowled well in the middle phase of the innings and was consistent with her lines and lengths. She was also the most economical bowler for Thailand.

Sharne Mayers: 

The right-handed opening batter of Zimbabwe top-scored with 39 off 36 in her last fixture against Ireland. She smashed five boundaries in her knock and, in the process, stitched a 50-run partnership with captain Mary-Anne Musonda for the third wicket. She provided a good start to the run chase and held the innings together till the 13th over.

Nomvelo Sibanda: 

The left-arm speedster of Zimbabwe scalped 24/2 in four overs in her last appearance against Ireland. She opened the bowling and bowled well with the new ball. Apart from bowling inside the powerplay, she was called to bowl in the death overs and picked up her wickets in the 19th over. She was the second-most economical bowler in the side.

Pitch

This will be the ninth match of the tournament at this venue. Out of the eight games played here, the teams batting first have won three, and the teams batting second have won five. The average first innings score is 119, and the average second innings score is 110. The wicket seems favourable for batting. Expect a high-scoring contest.
