Bio:

A dynamic cricketer who has steadily made her mark in the world of women’s cricket, Maia Bouchier’s early cricketing endeavors saw her excel at the club level. Her prowess with the bat and her agility in the field caught the attention of the county selectors. She made her county debut for Middlesex before moving to Hampshire, where her performances continued to shine. Her impressive skills earned her a spot in the Southern Vipers squad in the Women’s Cricket Super League, and she later became a crucial part of the Southern Brave in The Hundred.

A strong 2021 season with the bat, where she scored just shy of 300 runs at an average of 37, earned her a maiden international call-up. She made her England debut in a T20I against New Zealand and was added to England’s ODI squad against the same opposition. In her initial matches, she batted in the middle order before being promoted up the order. In her first outing in the England jersey, she scored 25 off 24 balls. She then flew to Australia, where she featured for the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League and received an Ashes call-up soon after. Bouchier stayed on in Australia, where she made a career-best score of 79 while playing for Western Australia against Queensland in the Women’s National Cricket League.

A stellar 2022 Charlotte Edwards Cup campaign, where Bouchier scored 176 runs at an average of 29, saw her called up to England’s T20I squad for matches against South Africa and for the Commonwealth Games. She played in all five of England’s matches in the Games, scoring 30 runs with a best of 21*, and hit the winning runs as England kicked off their tournament with a win against Sri Lanka. An ODI call-up against India followed, but she was released to play in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. She was rewarded with a first ECB central contract off the back of her strong international summer and set records on England’s winter tour of New Zealand in 2024. Bouchier scored 223 runs in five innings, with scores of 71 followed by a career-best T20I score of 91 in back-to-back T20Is in Nelson and Wellington, batting at the top order.

Bouchier, who is ambitious to be the “next Nat Sciver,” continues to impress the cricketing world in her young career, scoring over 700 runs in about 40 matches for her national side.
