Day 2: Dinesh Vrinda’s unbeaten 123 anchors Team A as Vaishnavi Sharma’s 6-fer keeps Team D in the hunt

A remarkable bowling performance from the Team A bowlers saw them wrap Team D for 201 after the opposition skipper Sneh Rana won the toss and opted to bat first in match 4 of Senior Women’s Multi-Day Challenger Trophy 2025. Skipper Minnu Mani (15.3-3-41-4), and Sayali Satghare (10-2-42-3) were the stand-out performers with the ball for Team A. The Minnu Mani-led side wiped off the major chunk of the lead as they ended the 1st Day’s play at 138/4 in 41 overs.

Dinesh Vrinda’s unbeaten century gives a healthy first innings lead to Team A

The overnight batter Priya Mishra (3 off 13 balls) departed cheaply as she was dismissed by the opposition skipper Sneh Rana in the 2nd over of the 2nd day’s play, providing the 5th breakthrough for her side. Opening batter Dinesh Vrinda continued to play the ball in the gaps and keep the scoreboard ticking at a decent rate as she kept losing partners from the other end.

A crucial 21-run partnership for the 8th wicket between Arundhati Reddy (17 off 21 balls) and Vrinda Dinesh wiped off the deficit, followed by another impressive 37-run partnership between Sayali Satghare (18 off 43 balls) and Vrinda Dinesh gave them a decent lead of 46, as they were eventually wrapped up for 247 in 75.5 overs. Vrinda Dinesh notched up a gritty century (123* off 199 balls) and stayed unbeaten throughout the innings for Team A.

Young spinner Vaishnavi Sharma hogged the limelight with the ball for Team D as she returned with exceptional match figures (32.5-8-78-6) in her marathon spell. Gongadi Trisha (6-3-3-1) tightened the screws in her outstanding spell, while Yamuna Rana (12-1-52-2), and skipper Sneh Rana (19-0-82-1) played their part with the ball for their side.

The spin trio bounces back after a solid start for the Team D openers

A spirited effort from Team D openers G Trisha and the wicket-keeper batter Nandini Kashyap in their 2nd stint saw them wipe off the deficit en route to their massive 69-run opening stand. An unfortunate hit-wicket ended Nandini Kashyap’s (33 off 71 balls) impressive stay at the crease in the 22nd over of the innings. Skipper Minnu Mani provided the first breakthrough for her side.

The Sneh Rana-led side lost a couple of wickets in quick succession to bring Team A back into the contest. Dhara Gujjar joined opening batter G Trisha at the crease and the duo took their side past the 100-run mark with a much-needed 26-run partnership for the 4th wicket. Priya Mishra ended a resilient stay of G Trisha (39 off 104 balls) at the crease in the 39th over of the innings to provide the much-needed 4th breakthrough for Team A.

Sanskriti Gupta soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 5th breakthrough for Team A. Skipper Sneh Rana joined Dhara Gujjar at the crease and the pair took their side past the 150-run mark with another crucial 38-run partnership for the 6th wicket. Tanuja Kanwer got the big scalp of the opposition skipper Sneh Rana (21 off 53 balls) in the 59th over of the innings to provide the 6th breakthrough for her side.

Vaishnavi Sharma (6* off 7 balls) joined Dhara Gujjar (29* off 90 balls) at the crease and the pair saw the day through as Team D ended the 2nd day’s play at 167/6 in 62 overs, leading by 121 runs. Priya Mishra (21-7-44-3) was sensational with the ball as she led Team A’s fightback and was the standout bowler on the day for her side. She was well supported by Tanuja Kanwer (11-4-17-1), and skipper Minnu Mani (17-3-51-2) in their respective spells.

Team A would be keen to wrap things up as soon as possible on the final day’s play, while Team D on the other hand, would be eying a total close to 200-220 alongside leaving themselves with enough time to wrap up Team A on the final day’s play tomorrow.
