The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed former Australian cricketer Troy Cooley as the bowling coach for the upcoming multi-format series against England and Australia. Reportedly, he has already joined head coach Amol Muzumdar and the rest of the team in Mumbai.
Cooley is regarded as one of the best pace bowlers that Tasmania has produced. He has taken 54 wickets in 33 first-class matches and 4 wickets in 3 List A games. He also contributed with the bat from time to time and scored 291 runs in 33 first-class games.
Cooley’s coaching achievements far outweigh his playing records. He played a key role in developing the England side for the 2005 Ashes campaign and guided the Australian team as well. He was also the bowling coach for the Rest of India squad in the Irani Cup clash against Saurashtra this year, accompanied the India A team for the Bangladesh tour, and guided the bowling attack for the T20 World Cup in South Africa earlier this year. He has been the fast bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for the past three years.
