The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup, from July 19 to July 28, 2024, in Sri Lanka, features eight teams and is played in the T20 format as preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Semi-final 1 – INDIA vs BANGLADESH
A1 – INDIA
India was placed in Group A alongside Nepal, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Pakistan. India emerged at the top of the table with 3 consecutive wins securing 6 points. They kicked off their campaign with a 7-wicket win over arch-rival Pakistan, followed by a 78-run victory against the UAE, posting their highest T20I total of 201 runs. In the match against Nepal, India outplayed their opponents by securing a comfortable 82-run victory. At the end of group stage, Deepti Sharma emerged as the highest wicket-taker with 8 to her name, while Shafali Verma was the top run-scorer with 158, including a high score of 81 against Nepal. These performances secured their spot in the semi-final.
B2 – BANGLADESH
Group B had Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia. Despite losing their first match to hosts Sri Lanka by 7 wickets, Bangladesh secured back-to-back wins in their subsequent games against Thailand (by 7 wickets) and Malaysia (by 114 runs). They finished second on the points table in Group B with 4 points, which secured their spot in the semi-final. At the end of the group stage, Murshida Khatun finished as their top run-scorer with 130 runs, while Nahida Akter and Rabeya Khan both claimed 5 wickets each.

Semi-final 2 – SRI LANKA vs PAKISTAN
B1 – SRI LANKA
Sri Lanka topped Group B with three commanding victories. They defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets, Malaysia by 144 runs, and Thailand by 10 wickets, confirming their place in the semi-final with 6 points. At the end of the group stage, Chamari Athapaththu was the highest run-scorer for Sri Lankan with a total of 180 runs, including a high score of 119 against Malaysia, recording the first-ever century of T20 Women’s Asia Cup. Kavisha Dilhari is their highest wicket-taker with 5 scalps.
A2 – PAKISTAN
Pakistan, placed in Group A alongside Nepal, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and India, suffered a loss to India by 7 wickets in their season opener. However, they bounced back with wins against Nepal (by 9 wickets) and the UAE (by 10 wickets), solidifying their spot in the semi-final. At the end of the group stage, Gull Feroza was the highest run-scorer for Pakistan with 124 runs, while Sadia Iqbal claimed 4 wickets as their highest wicket-taker.
The two semi-finals will be held at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Sri Lanka. The first semi-final between India and Bangladesh will be played at 2:00 PM local time, and the second semi-final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will commence at 7:00 PM local time.
