Brief History of Vanuatu Women’s National Cricket Team
The Vanuatu women’s national cricket team represents the country of Vanuatu in international women’s cricket. It is organized by the Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA), which is an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Historical Highlights – Vanuatu Women’s National Cricket Team
Vanuatu made its international debut in April 2011, hosting a tri-series against Fiji and a team from the North Coast region of the Australian state of New South Wales.
In April 2018, the ICC granted Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members. Consequently, all Twenty20 matches played between Vanuatu women and any ICC member since 1 July 2018 have had WT20I status.

Pacific Games:
In 2015, Vanuatu played one game each against the other teams: Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Fiji, Cook Islands, and New Caledonia. They finished third with three wins and two losses, qualifying for the preliminary final. However, they lost to Samoa by 40 runs and couldn’t advance to the final. Vanuatu then competed in the bronze-medal playoff against Fiji but lost by 12 runs.
In 2019, the tournament followed a double round-robin format; the participating teams, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Vanuatu, and Fiji, played each other twice. After completing all six matches, the top two teams competed for the gold medal, while the others contested for the Bronze. Vanuatu finished third with two wins and four losses, advancing to the bronze medal match. They faced Fiji and won by 8 wickets, securing the bronze medal.
2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier:
Vanuatu progressed to the global qualifier for the first time by remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament, winning all six matches and finishing at the top of the table.
ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers:
In 2024, they participated for the first time, in their first group stage match against Zimbabwe, they etched history by registering their first victory of the tournament and also by defeating a full-member team, apart from this historical success they couldn’t convert any other victory and didn’t qualify further.
