Brief History of South Korea Women’s National Cricket Team
The South Korea national women’s cricket team represents the country in international women’s cricket competitions. They made their international debut at the 2014 Asian Games, held in South Korea in September 2014.
Historical Highlights – South Korea Women’s National Cricket Team
In 2017, the South Korean team took part in the Women’s East Asia Cup in Hong Kong.
In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members. As a result, all Twenty20 matches played between the South Korean women’s team and other ICC members since 1 July 2018 have been recognized as WT20Is. They played their first WT20I match against China at Yeonhui Cricket Ground in Incheon on 3 November 2018.
Asian Games:
In the 2014 Asian Games, South Korea played two games, losing both and finished last in the standings.
Women’s East Asia Cup:
South Korea has participated in the Women’s East Asia Cup multiple times. In 2015, as the host nation, they lost all their matches and finished fourth.
The 2017 tournament saw a similar outcome, with the team unable to secure a win and again finishing fourth.
In 2019, South Korea hosted the cup but continued to struggle, losing all their matches. They faced Japan in the third-place playoff and were defeated by 32 runs, resulting in another fourth-place finish.
