Courtney Webb Joins WBBL Century Club With Unbeaten 52 in Renegades Win

Courtney Webb’s 100th Women’s Big Bash League appearance proved a fitting celebration of her Melbourne Renegades journey, as the 26-year-old marked the milestone with an unbeaten 52 and helped her side to a 36-run win over the Adelaide Strikers at the Junction Oval on 7 November 2026. Becoming only the third Renegades player to reach a century of WBBL appearances, after skipper Sophie Molineux and Georgia Wareham, Webb combined personal history with a decisive contribution in the 13th match of the tournament’s 12th edition.

Courtney Webb’s landmark arrived in Melbourne Renegades’ fourth game of the campaign, against an Adelaide Strikers side led by Tahlia McGrath. McGrath won the toss and opted to bowl first, but Webb, batting at number three, ensured the Renegades made the most of the opportunity to set a demanding total.

Her 52 not out from 42 balls was built with control and intent, featuring five boundaries and a maximum. It anchored a Melbourne Renegades innings that finished at 188/3 from their allotted 20 overs, giving the side a platform from which their bowlers could attack the Strikers’ chase.

Adelaide Strikers were unable to keep pace with the required rate and were restricted to 152/8 in their 20 overs. The 36-run defeat left the Strikers in 7th position with 2 points from 3 games in the early phase of their campaign, while Webb’s half-century gave the occasion an individual centrepiece.

The result took Melbourne Renegades to fourth place on the points table, with four points from four matches. Their record of two wins and two defeats reflects a campaign still finding its rhythm, but the manner of this victory, built around a substantial first-innings total and a disciplined defence, will encourage the side as the tournament progresses.

Webb’s connection with the Renegades began on 8 December 2018, when she made her WBBL debut for the club against Adelaide Strikers in Melbourne. Nearly eight years later, her 100th appearance came against the same opposition, adding a neat layer of symmetry to a milestone built through consistency, adaptability and longevity.

Across her 100 matches with the bat for Melbourne Renegades, Webb has compiled 1,653 runs at an average of 22.95 and a strike rate of 106.23. In 91 innings, she has registered three half-centuries and stands as the franchise’s second-highest run-scorer, underlining her value as a dependable middle-order presence over multiple WBBL seasons.

Her best Renegades innings came on 2 November 2024, against Perth Scorchers at Melbourne. Opening alongside Hayley Matthews in the second innings, Webb struck 61 from 40 balls, including nine boundaries and a maximum, as the Renegades chased down 141 with six wickets in hand. That innings remains the benchmark of her batting impact for the club, even as her latest fifty carries the weight of a century of appearances.

The Renegades will now turn their attention to a home meeting with the Sydney Sixers, led by Ashleigh Gardner, at the Junction Oval on 12 November 2026. The fixture is the 20th match of the 12th WBBL edition and the fifth game of the Melbourne Renegades’ campaign, beginning at 1:40 PM IST.

For Webb, the immediate challenge is to convert a milestone innings into sustained momentum. Having reached 100 WBBL appearances in the same match in which she produced an unbeaten 52, she has given the Renegades both a reason to celebrate and a timely reminder of the experience she brings to their top order.
