Born in Maharashtra, Devika Vaidya is a prominent figure in Indian cricket. Hailing from Maharashtra, Devika has left an incredible mark with her talent. Devika Vaidya’s cricket journey began in her formative years.
She received her maiden national call-up during South Africa’s tour of India in 2014. She began her journey by making her debut against South Africa in a T20 match in Bangalore. She was awarded the prestigious M.A. Chidambaram Trophy for the best women junior cricketer for the 2014-15 season. Devika Vaidya’s journey in international cricket saw a remarkable milestone in 2018 when she was part of India’s squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies. Although she came as a replacement for Pooja Vastrakar, it underlined her stature as a reliable asset for the national side.
She was picked by the UP Warriorz in the first edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Her standout performances in the WPL came in a match against Gujarat, where she scored a quick 36 runs off 20 balls and also picked up a couple of wickets to secure a victory for her side. Throughout her career, Vaidya has been recognized for her talent and potential. One of her notable achievements includes being named the ICC Women’s Emerging Player of the Year in 2016, highlighting her as one of the promising young talents in women’s cricket.
As of 2024, she has played over 25 matches in the limited-overs format, picking up over 22 wickets and scoring more than 275 runs with the bat.
