Bismah Maroof and Ghulam Fatima suffer minor injuries in a Car Accident

In a recent setback, two Pakistani cricketers have suffered ‘minor injuries’ in a car accident. The incident involved Bismah Maroof, Pakistan’s captain, and Ghulam Fatima, a promising leg-spinner, both of whom were preparing for the forthcoming white-ball series against West Indies in a training camp in Karachi. The mishap occurred on the evening of April 5, as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Although the extent of their injuries remains undisclosed, the PCB assured that immediate medical assistance was provided to Maroof and Fatima. Currently, both players are under the vigilant care of the PCB medical team.

The PCB released a statement regarding the incident, affirming the players’ involvement in the training camp for the upcoming series against West Indies, set to commence on April 18. However, the unfortunate event raises concerns regarding their availability for the series, contingent upon their swift recovery.

PCB stated, “The Pakistan Cricket Board has provided an update regarding two of its women players, Bismah Maroof and Ghulam Fatima, who were involved in a minor car accident on Friday evening, Despite sustaining minor injuries, both players received immediate first aid and are currently under the care of the PCB medical team. Both players are part of the probables attending a training camp for the upcoming series against the West Indies, scheduled to begin on 18 April.”

Pakistan will be hosting West Indies for three ODI and five T20I series. The dates of the three ODIs are set for April 18 through April 23, these ODIs play significance in the ICC Women’s Championship, 2022 -2025, and will determine qualification. The T20I series is scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 3rd, after the ODIs.
