East Zone led by skipper Deepti Sharma defeated North Zone led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur by 135 runs while defending a total of 271 in the 1st semi-final of the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal Multi-Day Trophy in Pune. On the other hand, South Zone led by skipper Minnu Mani defeated West Zone led by skipper Smriti Mandhana to progress to the final courtesy of a 59-run first-innings lead.

South Zone will face East Zone in the final of the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal Multi-Day Trophy on 9th April 2024. In this article, we will have a look at a few players to watch out for in the final.

Players to watch out for East Zone:

Dhara Gujjar: The 21-year-old left-hand batter is currently the 2nd highest run-scorer of the tournament and the leading run-scorer for East Zone with 215 runs to her name at a strike rate of 50.23 and an outstanding average of 71.66 in three innings. Her tally of runs includes one half-century and a century. Her best performance with the bat came in the 1st Quarter-final against North East Zone when she scored 140 runs at a strike rate of 64.81 in the first innings for East Zone. She is one of the in-form batters for East Zone. She can be one of the players to watch out for in the final.

Mamta Paswan: The 23-year-old pacer from Kerela represents East Zone in the Senior Women’s Multi-Day Trophy. She is the 2nd highest wicket-taker for East Zone alongside skipper Deepti Sharma and the joined 3rd highest wicket-taker of the tournament with seven wickets to her name at a strike rate of 38.57 and an impressive economy of 2.80 in four innings. Her best performance with the ball came on 3rd April when she returned with match figures (18-2-53-5) in her spell in the 2nd innings of the game for East Zone in the 1st semi-final against North Zone.

Deepti Sharma: The East Zone skipper led from the front with the ball in the 1st semi-final when she picked up a 10-wicket haul (8.3-2-14-4, and 20-4-49-6), and in the match against North Zone. She is currently the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 17 wickets to her name at a strike rate of 18.88 and an exceptional economy of 2.01 in four innings. Her best performance with the ball came in the 1st semi-final against North Zone when she returned with exceptional figures (20-4-49-6) in the 4th innings of the match.

Richa Ghosh: The 20-year-old destructive wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh has scored 35 runs in a couple of innings so far for East Zone. She is one player who can take the game away from the opposition very quickly with the bat and she has also improved as a wicket-keeper behind the stumps.

Players to watch out for (South Zone):

Tamanna Nigam: She is the leading run-scorer for South Zone and the third-highest run-scorer of the tournament with 154 runs so far with a strike rate of 56.61 and an average of 77 in a couple of innings. Her best performance with the bat came in the 2nd semi-final when she scored (99 runs off 200 runs) in the 3rd innings of the match against West Zone in the 2nd semi-final.

Miriyala Durga: The 24-year-old wicket-keeper batter Miriyala Durga is the 5th highest run-scorer of the tournament with 112 runs to her name at a strike rate of 39.16 and an impressive average of 56 in a couple of innings for South Zone. Her best performance with the bat came in the 2nd semi-final when she scored 81 runs at a strike rate of 39.51 in the 3rd innings of the game against West Zone.

Minnu Mani: The South Zone skipper was the star of the show with the ball for her side in the 2nd innings of the 2nd semi-final against West Zone when she returned with exceptional match figures (23.5.-5-73-6) for her side.
