Jaipur likely to host the third season of Women’s T20 Exhibition (IPL) this year

Women’s T20 challenge, likely known as women’s IPL has seen constant growth in consecutive years. The first season being initiated in 2018 was played at Wankhede and had the inclusion of two teams, the further year in 2019 the T20 challenge added the third team, three teams being the Trailblazers, the Supernovas and the Velocity. Both the seasons were won by the Trailblazers. The second season was hosted by Jaipur and it experienced a decent number of crowd in the stadium.

Team Supernovas was lead by Harmanpreet Kaur, Team Trailblazers was lead by Smriti Mandhana and Team Velocity was lead by Mithali Raj.

This year, BCCI is most likely to add a 4th team in the tournament. According to a TOI report, a senior BCCI official shared that “There would be seven matches between four teams in the women’s IPL and Jaipur is likely to host them.

The event is an effort by the BCCI to popularize women’s cricket, the teams will indulge in a round-robin format. This season of the event will be more exciting and crucial for women’s cricket as Cricket Australia and BCCI has agreed to burn down the differences and has given its nod for Australian cricketers to feature in the T20 Challenge.

Australia is the most successful team in women’s cricket has the greatest of the great like Meg Lanning, Ellyse Perry, and Alyssa Healy. This will help this event gain more popularity and will act as a catalyst for the growth of women’s cricket, while all the credit for this goes to Sourav Ganguly led BCCI who are keen to focus on the bigger picture and emphasizing on development for the sport in our country.
