She has scored 350 runs, at a strike rate of 102.04 with the bat and picked up 27 wickets with the ball spanning over a period of the last couple of years.
“Nicola Carey is without a doubt one of the premier all-rounders in the country, so to have her in purple again for another year is definitely a bonus for us, to have her on our side and not the opposition.” Head coach Jude Coleman on having her in Purple for one more season. She joins the likes of Maisy Gibson, Heather Graham, Ruth Johnston, Hayley Silver-Holmes, Amy Smith, Molly Strano, Rachel Trenaman, and Elyse Villani at the Hobart Hurricanes.
She was the second-highest wicket-taker (14) with the ball and the fifth-highest run-scorer (169) with the bat for the Hobart Hurricanes in the last season and played a pivotal role in helping her side make it to the eliminators of the Women’s Big Bash League after a gap of seven years. Their previous appearance in the knockout stages came in the second edition of the league.
“Last year was obviously a pretty significant season for us, being part of the Hurricanes team to make the finals for the first time in six years. However, we’re pretty keen to achieve more than just making the finals. We think we can really push the top sides for that trophy, so that will be our aim this year.” Nicola Carey on going one step ahead in their bid to get their hands on their maiden WBBL title.
