Sarah Glenn will bring her experience, control and wicket-taking threat to the Brisbane Heat after signing for the entire Women’s Big Bash League 12, which will be played from 29 October to 5 December 2026.
The news of the 27-year-old England leg-spin bowling all-rounder’s arrival comes during the ongoing ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 in the United Arab Emirates, being held from 28 August to 13 September, and gives Brisbane Heat a proven international match-winner as the club looks to recover from a difficult previous season.
Sarah Glenn has previously represented the Heat as an International Replacement Player in WBBL 09 and last season, but her latest agreement marks her first full-season commitment to the club. She is also the first WBBL player signing announced since the player embargo period ended last week.
The leg-spinner has already made a significant impact in Brisbane colours. She has taken two four-wicket hauls for the Heat, including an impressive 4-18 against the Sydney Thunder last season. Across her WBBL career, Glenn has claimed 29 wickets at an average of 17.68 and an economy rate of 6.72 in 21 innings and 21 matches. Her record includes four four-wicket hauls, underlining her ability to influence games rather than merely contain the scoring rate. She has also contributed 41 runs in 10 innings.
“We’re rapt to have ‘Glenny’ back with us, and this time for the entire competition,” Heat coach Mark Sorell said. “She’s an outstanding person, great team player, and, as we have seen, a very skilful bowler who will complement our attack in whatever role we ask of her.”
Sorell added that Glenn’s performances during the English season had strengthened the club’s belief in her value. Representing Yorkshire in the ECB Women’s One Day Cup, she took seven wickets at an average of 29.42 and an economy rate of 5.72 in four matches. She also scored 92 runs at a strike rate of 77.31 and an average of 30.66 in three innings.
Her form continued with the Southern Brave in the recently concluded sixth edition of The Hundred. Glenn finished with seven wickets at an economy rate of 7.98 across nine innings and nine matches, offering the versatility that has made her a valuable component of England’s white-ball setup.
Glenn’s connections with the Heat group run deep. She played for Yorkshire alongside former Brisbane captain Jess Jonassen and Queensland Fire regular Lauren Winfield-Hill, while she shared the Southern Brave dressing room with Charli Knott. She also arrives with substantial international credentials, having taken more than 100 wickets for England in white-ball cricket. In 73 T20 Internationals, she has claimed 89 wickets at 16.48, maintaining an economy rate of 6.05, while she has taken 23 wickets in 19 ODIs.
Brisbane Heat finished eighth last season after injuries and player unavailability contributed to a winless campaign. Nevertheless, the club recorded a sell-out crowd at Allan Border Field, demonstrating the support available to the Heat. Glenn’s signing is therefore both a cricketing boost and an important statement of intent ahead of WBBL 12.
With Sarah Glenn included, Brisbane have contracted eight players: Lily Bassingthwaighte, Sarah Glenn, Sianna Ginger, Lucy Hamilton, Grace Harris, Jess Jonassen, Charli Knott and Georgia Redmayne. Further signings are expected, with WBBL clubs permitted a maximum squad of 15 players.
