The 30th match of the seventh edition of Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) was played between Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers at the WACA Ground, Perth, on Wednesday.

Batting first, Perth Scorchers hammered a mammoth 194-2 in 20 overs, riding on opening bat Beth Mooney’s stellar century. The southpaw smashed 101 runs off 63 balls, including 13 boundaries. Her opening partner Sophie Devine plundered 72 runs off 49 balls, hitting eight boundaries and two sixes. The duo put together 165 runs for the first wicket in 16.2 overs. For Melbourne Renegades, Harmanpreet Kaur and Courtney Webb chipped in with one wicket apiece.

In reply, Melbourne Renegades were restricted to 154-6 in 20 overs. They lost the match by 40 runs. Courtney Webb top scored with 46 runs off 34 balls, including five boundaries and a six. Jess Duffin (23) and captain Sophie Molineux (31 not out) were the other major contributors with the bat. Duffin and Webb put together 42 runs for the fourth wicket, while Evelyn Jones (8 not out) and Molineux stitched a 48-run partnership for the seventh wicket. For Perth Scorchers, Lilly Mills was the pick of the bowlers as she scalped 4-25 in her three overs. Taneale Peschel and Alana King claimed one wicket each.
