Batting first, Sydney Sixers posted a challenging score of 141-4 in 20 overs, riding on Ashleigh Gardner’s delectable half-century. After losing the opening bat Alyssa Healy (0) cheaply in the first over, captain Ellyse Perry and Gardner joined forces to put together 103 runs for the second wicket. Perry mustered 47 runs off 52 balls, including four boundaries and a six, while Gardner smashed 51 off 49 balls, hitting eight boundaries. For Hobart Hurricanes, Tayla Vlaeminck, Molly Strano, Nicola Carey and Ruth Johnston claimed one wicket apiece.
2nd innings Hobart Hurricanes 110-7 in 20 overs
In reply, Hobart Hurricanes managed to score 110-7 in 20 overs, falling short of 31 runs. Opening bat Rachael Priest top scored with 27 runs off 29 balls, including four boundaries. Molly Strano was the other major contributor with the bat chipping in with 18 runs off 12 balls, hitting one boundary in her unbeaten knock. For Sydney Sixers, Nicole Bolton, who opened the bowling was the pick of the bowlers as she scaled 2-28 in her four overs.
Player of the Match
Sydney Sixers’ Ashleigh Gardner won the player of the match for her stellar half-century. The right-hand bat scored 51 runs off 49 balls.
