Inoka Ranaweera, a notable figure in Sri Lankan cricket, has not only represented the national women’s team in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) but also served as the ODI captain. Renowned for her bowling prowess, Ranaweera etched her name in history during a memorable ODI against New Zealand in November 2015, where she achieved the rare feat of taking a hat-trick, the first Sri Lankan woman to do so. Her remarkable performances earned her recognition, winning the Sri Lanka Cricket Award for the Women’s ODI Bowler of the Year in both 2016 and 2017. Continuing her cricket journey, Ranaweera was named in Sri Lanka’s squad for the 2021 Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, followed by selections for the 2022 Commonwealth Games Cricket Qualifier in Malaysia and the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
Since her ODI debut against West Indies at Bridgetown on April 25, 2012, she in 71 innings has claimed 76 wickets, with her best bowling figures being 4/39. She maintains an economy rate of 4.44, along with scoring 210 runs in 49 innings, achieving an unbeaten 32 as her highest score. In T20Is, she debuted against South Africa on September 26, 2012. Since then, she has taken 88 wickets in 80 innings, with her best figures of 4/7 coming from a spell of 2 overs against Bangladesh in 2022.
