In the first ODI, Thailand posted 243/9 in 50 overs, thanks to Natthakan Chantam, who scored 102. For the Netherlands, Frederique Overdijk accounted for three wickets. In reply, the visitors were bowled out for 134 in 44.5 overs to lose the game by 100 runs (DLS method). Netherlands’ Babette de Leede led the run chase with 33 runs, while Onnicha Kamchomphu claimed three scalps for the hosts.

Players to watch

Babette de Leede: 

The wicket-keeper and right-handed opening batter of the Netherlands top-scored for her side in the first ODI against Thailand. She mustered 33 off 62, including a boundary. She provided a steady start to the run chase and was in the middle until the 19th over.

Frederique Overdijk: 

The right-arm speedster of the Netherlands was the most successful bowler for her team in the first ODI against Thailand. She accounted for 39/3 in eight overs, including 30 dot balls. Opening the bowling with Iris Zwilling, Overdijk struck in her second over. Besides her bowling, she is a handy middle-order batter.

Onnicha Kamchomphu: 

The wily right-arm off-spinner of Thailand was the pick of the bowlers in the first ODI against the Netherlands. She scalped 35/3 in 10 overs, including 37 dot balls. She was consistent with her lines and lengths and yielded rich dividends. She controlled the middle overs well and tamed the flow of runs.

Natthakan Chantham: 

The right-handed opening batter of Thailand registered her maiden ODI century in the first ODI against the Netherlands. It was also the first century by any Thai player in women’s ODI cricket. She scored 102 off 135, including eight boundaries and a six. For her brilliant batting display, she bagged the player of the match award.

Pitch

It will be the tournament’s second match at the venue. More than 375 runs were scored in the last game here. 19 wickets fell in the process. The wicket looks good for batting. The morning start means that the fast bowlers will get some assistance. A thick cloud cover could also help the seamers.
