In August earlier this year, there was a last-minute change in Ireland’s squad for the T20 World Cup Qualifiers after the senior-most player Shauna Kavanagh was tested positive for the deadly coronavirus. It was due to this, then 15 Year Old Amy Hunter was called in as her replacement.
Amy Hunter is a right-handed batswoman and wicketkeeper who made her ODI Debut on 5th October playing against Zimbabwe.
Amy, who turned 16 today, has now created a World Record and scripted her name in the history books – She has become the Youngest ever Cricketer (male or female) to score a Century in International One Day Cricket.

Ireland Women’s Cricket team posted their highest ever total- 312 Runs in the ODIs. 16 year Old Amy Hunter also broke Mithali Raj’s 22-Year-Old Record when she became the youngest player to score a century in ODIs in 1999 vs Ireland.
Playing just her 4th ODI Match in her career, birthday girl Amy Hunter has become a social media sensation after she smashed 121 not out in 127 balls, comprising 8 boundaries. Thanks to her brilliant century, Ireland has scored their highest ever team total in Women’s ODIs – 312 Runs.
This is the 4th and Final ODI of the series against Zimbabwe Women and Ireland already lead the series 2-1.
