Group E: Round III – Bengal, Delhi, Maharashtra, and Goa get victories
The Round III matches of Group D took place on 17th October. Two matches were conducted at SCA Stadium Khanderi B Ground, Rajkot while the other two took place at AOC Ground, Secunderabad.
Match 1: Bengal vs Saurashtra
Venue: SCA Stadium Khanderi B Ground, Rajkot
Saurashtra made 82 runs while batting first. The highest score from their side came from number 7 batter Neha Chavda who made 20 runs in 27 balls.
Bengal chased down the score in 14.2 overs losing only 1 wicket. Gayatri Mal 37(42) and Rumeli Dhar 42(33) saw their team through the line.
Result: Bengal won by 9 wickets.
Match 2: Cricket Association of Mizoram vs Delhi
Venue: AOC Ground, Secunderabad
The Mizoram vs Delhi match was conducted in Secunderabad. Delhi made 164/4 in 20 overs courtesy opener Neha Bhargava’s unbeaten 74 off 64.
Mizoram could only make 75 runs in their 20 overs, losing 5 wickets. Prajakta Shirwadkar high scored with 26 runs in 53 balls.
Result: Delhi won by 89 runs.
Match 3: Arunachal Pradesh vs Goa
Venue: AOC Ground, Secunderabad
Goa had a dominant win over Arunachal Pradesh at Secunderabad. Goa went on to score a mammoth 257 runs in their 20 batting overs. It was one of the highest scores made by a team in this tournament. Captain Sanjula Sudhakar Naik smashed an unbeaten 91 off 52 balls. Opener Shreya Parab was scoring with a strike rate above 192. She made 79 runs in 41 balls. Goa made 257/2 in the first innings.
In reply, Arunachal Pradesh faltered. They lost their opener Neelam Rajput in the first ball itself. Captain Bengia Ritu made the highest score of 17 runs from 22 balls. Arunachal Pradesh made 74 runs losing 8 wickets.
Result: Goa won by 183 runs.
Match 4: Maharashtra vs Tamil Nadu
Venue: SCA Stadium Khanderi B Ground, Rajkot
It was a close contest between the two teams at Rajkot. Tamil Nadu made 100 runs while batting first. Captain Hemalatha D Dayalan made 31 off 33 and was the highest scorer from their side. Maharastra’s Aditi Arvind Gaikwad was exceptional with the ball. She just bowled 1 overs and took 3 wickets giving only 2 runs. She took 2 wickets off consecutive balls and bowled out the Tamil Nadu team in the death overs.
Captain Anuja Patil’s knock of 54 runs off 44 balls helped Maharashtra chase the target of 101 runs in 19.2 overs. Patil remained unbeaten and saw her team through. Keerthana S Balakrishnan of Tamil Nadu took 3 wickets in her 4 overs while giving away only 7 runs.
Result: Maharashtra won by 3 wickets.
