Grace Parsons and Nicola Hancock bowl Australia A to T20 series victory against India A

Australia A led by skipper Tahlia McGrath defeated India A led by skipper Minnu Mani by five runs in the first T20, to take a series lead in the three-match T20 series.

Australia A skipper Tahlia McGrath won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, the India A openers Priya Punia and Shweta Sehrawat got their side off to a steady start with a 22-run opening partnership. Nicola Hancock picked up the wicket of Shweta Sehrawat to provide the first breakthrough for Australia A.

Raghvi Bist joined Priya Punia at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 26-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to take them closer to the 50-run mark. Grace Parsons picked up the wicket of Raghvi Bist to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side. Sajeevan Sajana joined Priya Punia at the crease and the duo stitched a 16-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Kate Peterson cleaned up Sajeevan Sajana to provide the 3rd breakthrough for Australia A.

India A lost a couple of wickets in quick succession, bringing Australia A firmly back into the contest. Wicket-keeper batter Uma Chetry joined Kiran Navgire at the crease with India A in trouble at 74/5 in the 13th over of the innings. The duo led some sort of recovery for their side with a much-needed 30-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take their side past the 100-run mark.

Grace Parsons came back and picked up the wicket of the wicket-keeper batter Uma Chetry to provide the 6th breakthrough for her side. India A eventually ended up with a total of 130/9 in their quota of 20 overs. Priya Punia (29 off 26 balls), skipper Minnu Mani (17 off 13 balls), and Raghvi Bist (15 off 16 balls) were the top performers with the bat for India A.

Tahlia Wilson (53 off 46 balls), skipper Tahlia McGrath (47 off 38 balls), and Charli Knott (22 off 20 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Australia A. Skipper Minnu Mani (4-0-22-1), Meghna Singh (3.2-0-20-1), and Sayali Satghare (4-0-24-0) were the top performers with the ball for India A. Australia A got over the line with eight wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare. The home side sealed the three-match T20 series by a 2-0 margin with one match to go.
