Neeraj Chopra, India’s javelin throw star, dazzled at the Paris 2024 Olympics but fell short for the second consecutive gold medal. Despite surpassing his gold-medal throw from the Tokyo Games by 1.87 meters, Chopra settled for silver as Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem made history with a record-breaking performance.

In a thrilling display of javelin throw, Nadeem threw 92.97 meters to set an Olympic record and secure gold, becoming the first from Pakistan to achieve this feat in an individual event. Chopra’s remarkable effort, which saw him land a throw of 90.35 meters, was not enough to overtake Nadeem, who managed to exceed the 90-meter mark with his final attempt.

Chopra’s standout throw came on his second attempt in the final. However, a series of four consecutive fouls hampered his ability to capture gold. His performance in the qualification round, where he achieved a throw of 89.34 meters, demonstrated his high caliber, but he could not surpass his season’s best in the final.
