Dilara Akter has grown into one of Bangladesh’s most aggressive batting options in T20 cricket, combining attacking intent at the top of the order with reliable wicketkeeping skills. Born in Dinajpur, she progressed through Bangladesh’s age-group system and was rewarded with selection for the national side after impressing as a wicketkeeper-batter with her fearless approach.
Dilara received her maiden Bangladesh call-up in late 2022 for the tour of New Zealand, making her T20I debut in December 2022 at just 18 years of age. Shortly afterwards, she represented Bangladesh at the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa, scoring 110 runs and helping showcase the next generation of Bangladeshi talent on the global stage.
Her development continued through Bangladesh A and Emerging Teams cricket, where she was part of the Bangladesh A side that finished runners-up at the 2023 ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Although she briefly fell out of the national setup following the India series in 2023, Dilara worked her way back into contention through domestic performances and regained her place in Bangladesh’s T20I squad in 2024.
Since returning, she has become an increasingly important component of Bangladesh’s white-ball plans. Unlike many traditional Bangladesh batters, Dilara naturally looks to score quickly and put pressure on bowlers from the outset.
