Another step towards encouragement of women’s cricket

Cricket Australia announced increase in payment for top women player.

The increase in their payment [from US $1.8 million (£1.3 million/€1.6 million) to $3.2 million (£2.3 million/€2.8 million)] have made them the nation’s highest paid team of sportswoman.

After the increase, the maximum annual fee paid to each player, will rise to $50,000 (£35,000/€44,000), while the minimum has been raised to $30,000 ($21,000/€26,000).
Match payments and tour fees have been included as part of the player’s base income for the year.

Not only the increment, but the Australian board has taken many steps to promote female cricket. The Australian women have their own big bash league as well.
The decision to increase the payment pool has been claimed to be as a result of the high television ratings for the women’s game in the country after they reached the final of recent world T20.

This step will promote female cricket in Australia. Many boards should take notes from Cricket Australia and promote female cricket in their respective countries as well.
