After a successful 1st, the 02 edition of the FairBreak Invitational gets underway on the 3rd of April at 8:30 AM Indian Standard Time (IST). The tournament’s opening ceremony will be followed by the Fairbreak All-Stars facing the Hong Kong Divas in an exhibition match.
The Fairbreak Invitational is a Twenty20 (T20) competition that aims to promote equality for all on many cricketing fronts. The tournament is set to have all of its games of the 02 edition played at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong.

Players to watch:
Hayley Matthews
The 25-year-old all-rounder from West Indies will feature for the Warriors but will get her season underway playing in the All-Stars team. Hayley Matthews who only recently featured for the Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will look to carry on her brilliant form that saw her score 271 runs in 10 innings and bag the most wickets (16).
Phoebe Litchfield
The 19-year-old from Australia in her lone Twenty20 International (T20I) inning was cheaply dismissed for just 11. Regarded as the country’s best talent, Phoebe proved herself during the Pakistan One-Day Internationals series where she in 3 innings scored 154 runs.
Christine Joy Lovino
The 32-year-old Filipino player at last year’s Invitational was part of the South Coast Sapphires, and while she didn’t happen to find a place in any of the 6 squads for the 02 edition, eyes will be on how she goes about her business in the one-off exhibition game now that she’s got experience of being a part of the Sapphires.
Jennifer Alumbro
Another player from the Philippines and this 34-year-old in the previous inaugural edition featured for the Warriors and also received a professional contract last year. Jennifer when will walk out for the only time in the competition during the exhibition game will want to leave a mark from her learnings of being part of professional set-ups.
Pitch:
The 22 yards at the Kowloon Cricket Club have been a delight to the bowlers, both pacers and spinners. The venue is a low scoring one with bowlers dictating the game, the average score being in mid 130s and like any other pitch, there are rewards for good cricketing shots.
Weather:
The forecast is a pleasant one with the temperature hovering around the early 20s. The 11 AM (local time) start to the game could see a slight delay with showers on the radar for just around the same time but that alone won’t spoil the party of the Divas and All-Stars game as we expect a complete game of cricket.
Fantasy playing XI:
Sophia Dunkley, Hayley Matthews, Jennifer Alumbro, Phoebe Litchfield, Christine Joy Lovino, Josie Arimas, Laura Wolvaardt, April Rose Saquilon, Nicola Carey, Katherine Sciver-Brunt, Joan Badillo
