1st innings: Barmy Army – 158/8 (20.0)

The side had a nervy start losing seasoned international batters Lauren Winfield-Hill and Laura Wolvaardt on ducks in the first over. Deandra Dottin led the side’s comeback and in her 29-ball 42-run knock was accompanied by Nigar Sultana (9) and Kavisha Egodage (17), and with Dottin departing on the 1st ball of the 11th over, the side found themselves 5 down for 73. Shemaine Campbelle (12) and Rumana Ahmed (8) then departed cheaply, and Fatima Sana’s timely quickfire boosted the sides’ total.

While Fatima Sana was striking well, Rubina Chhetry hung-in in the middle for an invaluable partnership before departing on 13, and Fatima then alongside Tara Norris finished unbeaten on respective scores of 45(30) and 4(3) which powered the Barmy Army to finish on 158. The Falcons wickets column had Marizanne Kapp (3), Mariko Hill (3), Sornnarin Tippoch (1), and Chamari Athapaththu (1) feature.

2nd innings: Falcons – 161/4 (18.1)

The side in reply lost Danni Wyatt early on 1(2) and Suzie Bates then joined Chamari Athapaththu. With the latter striking well, Bates opted to anchor the innings, and in the 57-run 2nd wicket stand, Bates departed contributing 17 off 21 balls. Theertha Satish then joined Chamari and post a 54-run stand, Theertha when departed on 15(17) in the 15th over, a couple of balls later, in the same over, Chamari’s blistering 50-ball 78-run knock too came to an end with 120 on board.

Result: Falcons won by 6 wickets (with 11 balls remaining)

Barmy Army who had a good run will be very disappointed with the game having not defended a competitive total of 158, and credit to Chamari Athapaththu and the Falcons for having come out all guns blazing and positively approached the run chase to make it to the Final where they’ll now meet the Warriors.
