The fifth match of the Hundred Women’s Competition 2022 will be played between London Spirit and Northern Superchargers on August 14 at the Headingley in Leeds. The match will start at 3.30 PM IST.

This will be the second match of the tournament for both teams. While London Spirit lost to Southern Brave by six wickets in their last outing, Northern Superchargers suffered defeat at the hands of defending champions, Oval Invincibles, by nine wickets, in their last match.

Players to watch out for

Beth Mooney: 

The left-handed opening batter from Australia, who plays for London Spirit, top scored for her team in the last match against Southern Brave. The southpaw opened the batting and muscled an unbeaten 97 off 55 balls, including 16 boundaries and a six. She helped her team post a formidable score of 155 in 100 balls.

Danielle Gibson:

The right arm seamer from London Spirit was the pick of the bowlers in her last appearance against Southern Brave. She bowled her full quota of 20 balls and claimed 27/2. She bowled eight dot balls and was the second most economical bowler in the side. Apart from her bowling, she is a handy right-handed middle order batter.

Jemimah Rodrigues: 

The right-handed batter from India starred with the bat for the Northern Superchargers in her last match against Oval Invincibles. She opened the batting and mustered 51 runs off 32 balls including eight boundaries. She anchored the innings and batted for almost three quarters of the innings.

Laura Wolvaardt: 

This prolific right-handed batter from South Africa had a good outing with the bat for Northern Superchargers when they took on Oval Invincibles in the last fixture. Coming in at number five, she smashed 49 off 39, including five boundaries and a six. She hit some beautiful looking shots and ran well between the wickets.

Pitch

This will be the first match of the tournament at this venue. Last year, out of the four matches played as a part of the Women’s Hundred, teams batting first and teams batting second won two matches each. The average first innings score is 128 and the average second innings score is 124. Expect a high scoring contest.

Weather

The weather is expected to be partly sunny and very warm. The maximum temperature attained during the day could be 31 degrees Celsius. The expected cloud cover will be 40 percent with just three percent chance of rain. The wind will blow from the east.
