Ellyse Perry’s scintillating knock of 81 runs off 43 balls was the highlight of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s innings against Mumbai Indians in the seventh match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. Batting first, RCB posted a competitive total of 167 runs with a loss of 7 wickets, courtesy to Perry’s heroics.

Perry’s innings was a masterclass in aggressive batting, as she struck 11 fours and 2 sixes at an impressive strike rate of 188.37. She walked in to bat when RCB was struggling at 29/1 and wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Despite lack of support from the other end, Perry single-handedly propelled RCB to a competitive total, eventually falling on the penultimate ball of the innings.
During her knock, she shared a crucial 50-run partnership with Richa Ghosh and a 46-run stand with Kim Garth. Her onslaught on the MI bowlers was particularly severe in the 17th over, where she brought up her fifty in just 30 balls with a four against Amelia Kerr. She further punished Kerr in the same over, smashing a six to make it a costly over for MI.
Perry continued to accelerate in the death overs, hitting two fours in the 18th over off Hayley Matthews and two more in the 19th over before getting out attempting to maximize the runs for her team. Her innings came to an end, as she miscued a shot off Amanjot Kaur straight to Shabnim Ismail at long on.
The Bengaluru crowd gave her a well-deserved standing ovation as she walked off the field, acknowledging her extraordinary effort.
With this knock, she has accomplished several milestones, solidifying her position as one of the most dominant batters in the tournament. She has not only achieved her highest individual score in the WPL but also has become the leading run-scorer for RCB and the second player, after Meg Lanning, to cross 700+ runs in the tournament.
