The second semi-final of the 2022 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier will be played between Bangladesh and Thailand on September 23 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The game will begin at 8.30 PM IST.

Both teams have played three matches in the league stage of this competition. While Bangladesh has won all three games, Thailand emerged victorious in two out of their three fixtures. Bangladesh, with six points, topped Group A, and Thailand, with four points, stood second in Group B, behind Zimbabwe.

Players to watch

Murshida Khatun: 

The left-handed opening batter of Bangladesh bagged the player of the match award in her last outing against the USA. She smashed an undefeated 77 off 64, including nine boundaries, registering her highest T20I score. In the process, she stitched a 138-run partnership with captain Nigar Sultana for the second wicket.

Salma Khatun: 

The veteran right-arm off-spinner of Bangladesh was one of the two wicket-takers in her last appearance against the USA. She claimed 12/1 in three overs, striking on the very last ball of her first over. She opened the bowling and bowled well with the new ball. The wily spinner was the most economical bowler for Bangladesh.

Chanida Sutthiruang: 

The right-handed middle-order batter of Thailand won the player of the match in her last game against Papua New Guinea. She top-scored with an unbeaten 36 off 32, hitting five boundaries. With the ball, she opened the bowling with Nattaya Boochatham and bowled her full quota of four overs, conceding just 12 runs.

Nattaya Boochatham: 

The right-arm off-spinner of Thailand wreaked havoc with the ball in her last outing against Papua New Guinea. She scalped 8/4 in four overs, including one maiden. She picked up three out of her four wickets in the 19th over. She bowled well with the new ball, opening the bowling, and was also effective at the death.


This will be the eighth match of the tournament at this venue, with the seventh game being played early in the day. Out of the six games played here till yesterday, the teams batting first have won three, and the teams batting second have also won three. The average first innings score is 108, and the average second innings score is 96. The wicket has looked good for batting. From the 12 innings that have been played here, only once has the bowling team been able to bowl out the opposition.


The weather is expected to see plenty of sunshine. It will be very warm with low humidity. The highest temperature attained during the day will be 41 degrees Celsius. There will be no cloud cover and no chance of rain. The wind will blow from the northeast.
