Renegades’ Jess Duffin is the captain of the first official WBBL XI
Renegades skipper Jess Duffin is named as the captain of the first official Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Team of the Tournament. The Australian cricketer who captained team Melbourne Renegades this season has been instrumental in their journey to the top 4 of the table.
Jess Duffin has been one of the top WBBL players this season. She led her team brilliantly as she won matches for her team in tough situations. She made 500 runs in the league having played 13 matches this year. She has a good average of 71.42 which shows her reliability. She also made runs at a strike rate which was higher than 140, making her a perfect T20 batter.
The first official Team of the Tournament was selected by an elite panel which consisted of Cricket Australia journalist Laura Jolly, Head of Big Bash Leagues Alistair Dobson, Australia Women head coach Matthew Mott, former Australian players Mel Jones, Lisa Sthalekar and Belinda Clark and ABC commentator Alister Nicholson.
The official WBBL XI has players such as Beth Mooney, Meg Lanning, Ellyse Perry, Jess Jonassen, Molly Strano, Megan Schutt, and Belinda Vakarewa along with Jess Duffin. Sophie Devine, Danni Wyatt and Marizanne Kapp are the 3 overseas players to be selected in the team.
It has been a splendid tournament for Jess Duffin this year. She scored plenty of runs and took her team to the semifinals. Her performance might give a boost to her international career considering that the T20 World Cup in Australia is just months away. Duffin made her last international appearance way back in 2015 playing against England at Cardiff.
