Winning the toss, Thunder skipper opted to bowl. Hurricanes who chose to play with a new opening duo in the form of Wilson and Philips were unsuccessful as both the batters got out in quick succession. Credits to Dar and Ismail who bowled brilliantly in the beginning. Once they got out it was a one-sided show from Knight who scored a brilliant 77 in just 49 balls. No other batters contributed much except some late hitting from Tryon in the end. On the whole, Hurricanes finished their innings at a decent score of 148 for 6 in 20 overs. With the ball, it was Pakistani all-rounder, Nida Dar who picked up a couple of wickets and she was well supported by the rest of the bowlers.

Chasing the target of 149, Thunder opener Priest gave a thundering start to the inning as the openers Priest and Stalenberg had a partnership of 50 runs in just 4.2 overs in which Priest scored almost 40 plus runs. Stalenberg after reaching 6, was dismissed by pace gun Tayla. The skipper who came in next too did not spend much time at the crease as she was dismissed for just 4. It looked like the game was well poised. Rachel Priest got to her second half-century in 33 balls but sadly she failed to take her team home as she got out on 50 in the bowling of Gibson. It was then the duo of Blackwell and young Litchfield who took the team into a safe position by scoring 26 and 26 respectively. Though Blackwell got out, Litchfield along with Dar completed the chase in 18.1 overs with six wickets in hand.
