Uttar Pradesh win over Andhra as Jhansi Challa’s 5-wicket haul goes in vain – Round IV of Super League

Jhansi Challa’s bowling efforts went in vain as Uttar Pradesh defeated Andhra in the Round IV of the Super League.

Venue: Devineni Venkata Ramana Praneetha Ground, Mulapadu

After winning the toss, Uttar Pradesh chose to bat first. They lost wickets frequently but were able to score 117 runs. Anjali Singh made 39 runs off 33 as openers Shobha Devi 22(34) and Muskan Malik 15(18) had a 27-run stand. From Andhra, Jhansi Challa was the leading wicket-taker. She took as many as 5 wickets, leaving the Uttar Pradesh side clueless.

In the second innings, Andhra started a bit slow. After captain Anusha Neeruggati departed making 16 runs in 17 balls, Venkata Pothineni 20(32) and Hima Sikala 21(26) took over. Anjali Kesavarajugari and Vurukuti Latha each made 12 runs to take Andhra’s score to 98 runs. Meghna Singh of Uttar Pradesh bagged 3 wickets.

Uttar Pradesh: 117/8 in 20 overs

Andhra: 98/9 in 20 overs

Result: Uttar Pradesh won by 19 runs
