Match 11 Summary: Perth Scorchers vs Brisbane Heat.
An excellent display of batting from Perth openers made them secure their first victory of the season by 9 wickets at Brisbane on Saturday.
Winning the toss, Meg Lanning opted to bowl on a good batting surface. Opening the inning Harris and Mooney had a good start of 30 runs in 3 overs before the latter got out on 12. Jonassen who came in next too did not score much as she lost her wicket soon for 4.
Mooney on the other continued her best as she scored an excellent knock of 67 runs including 8 fours in 55 balls. Mooney had a decent partnership with Kiwis player Green who supported well to Mooney by scoring 34 runs. Both had a stand of 70 runs which helped Heat to set a decent score for the chase.
No other batters scored much as they ended up the inning on 146 for 7 in 20 overs. With the ball, it was leggie Barsby and the young Irish allrounder Kim Garth who picked up a couple of wickets for Scorchers.
Chasing the target of 147, Scorchers openers displayed a great show of batting. Amy Jones and Meg Lanning were in good flow as both scored Half-centuries. Jones scored an unbeaten 60 in 48 balls including 7 fours, whereas Lanning scored 55 in 52 balls including 5 fours. This partnership of 129 made the chase look easy, Lanning got out of after scoring 55. The incoming batter Sciver and Jones finished off the chase in 18.2 overs with 9 wickets in hand.
With this win, Perth Scorchers open their account in the points table. Whereas Heat faces their second defeat in a row.
