Brief History of Cameroon Women’s National Cricket Team
The Cameroon national women’s cricket team represents Cameroon in international women’s cricket. Following the ICC’s decision in April 2018 to grant full Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members, Cameroon’s T20 games post 1 July 2018 had international status. The team made their debut in an ICC women’s event during the 2021 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier group.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier:
In 2021, Cameroon made their debut in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier, competing in Group B against teams such as Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Uganda, and Namibia. Their maiden ICC event appearance didn’t go to plan, finishing last in their group.
ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Division Two Qualifier:
In September 2023, Cameroon participated in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Division Two Qualifier, facing off against teams like Sierra Leone, Kenya, Mozambique, and Eswatini. After the group-stage matches, Cameroon advanced to the playoffs. However, they lost to Sierra Leone in the third-place playoff match.
Nigeria Cricket Federation Women’s T20I Tournament:
Played during March and April 2023, Cameroon competed in the Nigeria Cricket Federation Women’s T20I Tournament held in Lagos. They played against teams including Sierra Leone, Ghana, Nigeria, and Rwanda. Despite their best efforts, Cameroon finished third in the tournament after losing to Sierra Leone in the third-place playoff match.
