Bio:
Arundhati Reddy, the medium-pace-bowling all-rounder has known nothing but the game since her childhood, playing the game professionally since the age of 12, when she broke into the Hyderabad setup. Slowly but steadily, she built a reputation for herself in domestic cricket and made the heads turn, breaking onto the international stage in 2018. Arundhati Reddy has played for multiple teams in India’s domestic circuit, including Hyderabad, Railways, and India A.
She made her international debut for India in 2018 against Sri Lanka. Although she was not economical in that match, conceding 37 runs in three overs, the medium pacer did scalp a wicket on her debut. From 2018 to 2021, she was a regular member of India’s T20I squad before being dropped. Her last T20I appearance was against England in the 3rd T20I during India Women’s tour of England, to date.
In the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), the medium pacer could only take two wickets from a total of nine overs bowled in 4 innings. She took her time to find her feet with the ball in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in 2023, but in the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy, her batting took off. She scored 252 runs in five innings, including three half-centuries with the highest score of 73 runs. In the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal One Day Trophy 2023, she scored 226 runs at an average of 45 and notched up 3 fifties.
In the 2024 WPL, she transformed into a different player with the ball. She played all nine games and picked up eight wickets at an economy of 7.62. After the WPL, she featured in the inter-zonal multi-day tournament for South Zone, scoring 85 runs against West Zone and 57 runs against East Zone in the final. This was an indication that she had leveled up with the red ball too.
After a gap of three years in international cricket, Arundhati made her ODI debut in the 2nd ODI against South Africa after being named in the all-format series in India’s home series against South Africa in 2024. Arundhati continues to evolve and is expected to make significant contributions to Indian women’s cricket.
