First held in the 2008–09 season, the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy has become a key fixture in India’s domestic women’s cricket calendar. The competition was previously known as the Senior Women’s T20 League before adopting its current name. Over the years, it has helped create opportunities for emerging players while allowing established domestic performers to demonstrate their consistency in the shortest format.

Railways have historically dominated the tournament, winning a record 11 titles. Delhi ended their long winning streak in 2017–18, while Punjab claimed the championship in 2018–19. Railways returned to the top in subsequent seasons, including 2021–22 and 2022–23. Mumbai won their maiden title in 2023–24 and successfully defended it in 2024–25. Maharashtra enter the 2026–27 season as the defending champions after securing their first title in the previous edition.

The tournament will feature 31 Elite teams and six Plate teams, divided into five groups. The Elite competition will have four groups, while the Plate division offers participating teams an opportunity to compete for the title in their category.

Group Teams
Elite A Maharashtra, Assam, Karnataka, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Bengal, Goa, Jammu & Kashmir
Elite B Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Baroda, Saurashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Andhra, Odisha
Elite C Railways, Tripura, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Sikkim, Kerala

Several state associations are announcing their squads ahead of the competition. Delhi have named Soni Yadav as captain, with Shweta Sehrawat appointed vice-captain and wicketkeeper. Their 16-member squad also includes Priya Punia, Tanisha Singh, Priya Mishra and Shivi Sharma. The complete squads for all 37 teams should be checked against official state association and BCCI announcements as they become available.

The league stage will run from October 26 to November 6. The top two teams from each Elite group will advance to the Super League, where teams will compete for a place in the final on November 20. The tournament is scheduled to feature 134 T20 matches, offering plenty of opportunities for players to make an impact.

With Maharashtra aiming to retain their crown and Railways looking to add to their remarkable record, the BCCI Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2026 promises competitive cricket and a valuable stage for India’s emerging domestic talent.
