Summary: 2nd T20 – India C obtain a narrow win over India B as Vrushali Bhagat’s heroics go in vain – Women’s Under 23 T20 Challenger Trophy 2019
The Women’s Under 23 T20 Challenger Trophy has kicked off in Puducherry. Four matches are held as part of this competition. Three teams- India A, India B, and India C play one match against each other. The top 2 teams will play the final match.
The first two matches of the tournament have already taken place at the Siechem Stadium in Puducherry. While India B won the first game against India A by 3 wickets, India C won the second match against India B by a margin of 6 runs.
The second match was held on December 12 between teams India B and India C. India B won the toss and chose to field first.
India C had a good start with openers Kajal Jena and Indrani Roy making 16 and 25 runs respectively. Rashmi Gudhia scored 28 runs while captain Prativa Rana had to depart on a duck. Down the order, Kanika Ahuja and Utkarsha Pawar added 11 and 18 runs respectively to the total. From India B, it was Vrushali Bhagat who was the leading wicket-taker. Bhagat scalped 4 wickets giving only 17 runs. Rashi Kanojiya and Minnu Mani took one wicket each. India C made 111 runs and lost 8 wickets in 20 overs.
It was again Vrushali Bhagat who played a key role for India B in the second innings. She opened the innings and scored 38 runs in 51 balls after her opening partner Shubha Satish was dismissed by Janhvi Kate on 5. Tejal Hasabnis top-scored with her 39-ball 47. But Sheetal Rana from India C ensured that India B face a major collapse. She alone took 5 wickets destabilizing the B batting. Her wickets included the prized scalps of Bhagat and Hasabnis. In the end, India B could only score 105 runs losing 7 wickets. India C obtained a 6-run victory.

Result: India C won by 6 runs
The 3rd T20 of the tournament will be played between India C and India A on 13th December while the final will take place two days later at the same venue.
