In a historic and heartfelt tribute, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, unveiled a dedicated stand in honour of India’s iconic women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur.

The event took place ahead of the 2nd T20I of the Indian men’s series against South Africa, symbolising the rising stature and respect for women’s cricket in India. At 36, Harmanpreet has not only revolutionised Indian women’s cricket but also inspired a generation, and this honour recognises her indelible impact on the sport.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership recently brought India its maiden ICC ODI World Cup when they triumphed over South Africa by 52 runs in the final of the 13th ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, held across India and Sri Lanka from 30th September to 2nd November 2025. This unforgettable victory at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, crowned Harmanpreet as the first Indian woman captain to lift an ICC major trophy, a landmark moment for Indian women’s cricket.
Throughout the ODI World Cup campaign, Harmanpreet was a pillar of strength, finishing as India’s 4th highest run-scorer with 260 runs at a strike rate of 89.04 and an average of 32.50 in 8 innings. Her fearless 89-run innings against Australia in a record chase of 339 runs was critical in securing India’s spot in the final. Jemimah Rodrigues, the 25-year-old sensation, followed up with a majestic unbeaten century that sealed India’s place in only their third ICC Women’s ODI World Cup final.
This unveiling at Mullanpur comes on the heels of Harmanpreet’s continued excellence in domestic and franchise cricket. Retained by Mumbai Indians for WPL 2026 at 2.50 crore, Harmanpreet leads the franchise into the upcoming fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League, scheduled from 9th January to 5th February 2026. Under her captaincy, the Mumbai Indians clinched the inaugural WPL title in 2023 and secured their second championship in 2025, consistently overcoming strong contenders like Delhi Capitals.
As India prepares to face Sri Lanka in a five-match T20I series starting on 21st December 2025, Harmanpreet’s leadership remains pivotal under head coach Amol Muzumdar. Off the field, her influence expands beyond cricket with the Jaipur Wax Museum announcing plans to immortalise her achievements through a wax statue, symbolising her status as a sporting legend and cultural icon.
The dedication of a stand in her name at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium is more than a gesture; it is a reflection of Harmanpreet Kaur’s journey from a trailblazing cricketer to a national symbol of resilience, passion, and triumph in Indian women’s sport.
