New Zealand’s 25-year-old all-rounder Amelia Kerr was on the brink of a defining milestone in her Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) career. 15 runs short of completing 1,000 runs in the league ahead of the Challenger clash against Perth Scorchers on 11th December 2025, Kerr has been one of the most consistent performers since her debut in 2019.

She got to the landmark en route to her fighting innings 42 (29 balls) in a run chase of 184, keeping the game alive for Sydney Sixers, till the very end. Her knock included 6 boundaries. Amelia Kerr first stepped into WBBL action on 19th October 2019, representing Brisbane Heat against Sydney Sixers at the iconic North Sydney Oval. Over the next four seasons, she grew into a central figure for the Heat, combining stability with stroke-making and utility leg-spin to influence games in multiple dimensions.
For Brisbane Heat, Kerr accumulated 854 runs at an average of 23.72 and a strike rate of 117.46 across 46 innings in 58 matches. She registered two half-centuries, her best coming on 21st November 2023, when she crafted a fluent 64 from 44 balls against her former rivals, the Sydney Sixers, in Brisbane. That innings, highlighted by ten crisply timed boundaries, exemplified Kerr’s ability to blend power with precision. Despite the Heat’s six-wicket defeat that night, her innings stood out as one of the most polished knocks of the season.
Kerr began a fresh chapter in the previous edition of the WBBL, joining the Sydney Sixers, a move that reunited her with several international contemporaries. She made her debut for the Sixers on 8th November 2024, against Melbourne Stars at Melbourne. Since then, Kerr has seamlessly adapted to the team setup under the new leadership of Ashleigh Gardner in this season.
In 13 matches and 11 innings so far for the Sixers, she has scored 173 runs at a strike rate of 116.89 and an average of 24.71, showcasing maturity and tactical game awareness lower down the order.
