The 11th edition of the WBBL is hurtling towards an electrifying conclusion, with the league stages completed on 7th December 2025 at North Sydney Oval, Sydney.

This season has showcased spectacular individual performances and intense team battles, setting the stage for a gripping Finals Series from 9th to 13th December 2025. The knockout stage line-up includes Hobart Hurricanes, Sydney Sixers, Perth Scorchers, and Melbourne Stars, each with compelling stories and formidable squads vying for ultimate glory.
Hobart Hurricanes: Maiden Grand Final Appearance
For the first time in WBBL history, Hobart Hurricanes have finished atop the points table, securing 15 points from 10 games with an impressive record of 7 wins, 2 defeats, and a washed-out match. Their consistent form has earned them a straight berth in the grand final, scheduled for 13th December 2025 at their fortress, Bellerive Oval, Hobart. Heather Graham leads the bowling attack with 14 wickets at an average of 19.21 and an economy of 7.91, including a potent four-wicket haul, making her a constant threat.
At the crease, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge has lit up the tournament with 416 runs at an aggressive strike rate of 145.96 and an average of 52, notching four half-centuries across 10 matches. The Hurricanes’ blend of lethal bowling and explosive batting positions them as strong contenders for their maiden title.
Sydney Sixers: Supercharged by Perry and Gardner
The Sydney Sixers sealed their spot in the Challenger game with a thrilling 1-run thriller over Adelaide Strikers in the final league match. This victory was notably powered by former skipper Ellyse Perry’s brilliant third WBBL century (111 off 71 balls), which included 16 boundaries and 3 sixes. Her innings not only steered the Sixers to a crucial win but also marked a historic milestone, making Perry just the second player, after Beth Mooney, to exceed 5,000 WBBL runs.
Perry leads her side’s batting charts with 383 runs at a commendable average of 54.71 and a strike rate of 141.85, including a century and two fifties. Complementing her batting heroics is skipper Ashleigh Gardner, who is the team’s leading wicket-taker and the third highest wicket-taker overall in the ongoing edition with 16 wickets at an average of 16.18 and an economy rate under 8. Gardner has delivered standout performances, including a four-wicket and a five-wicket haul.
The Sixers await the outcome of the Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Stars knockout, as they prepare for their 11th December clash at North Sydney Oval. The Sydney Sixers will be eying their 3rd WBBL title after winning it on consecutive occasions in the 2nd and 3rd editions of the WBBL.
Perth Scorchers: Battling for a Final Spot
Finishing third on the points table with 12 points from 10 matches, Perth Scorchers are primed for a hard-fought knockout against Melbourne Stars. Under Sophie Devine’s leadership, the Scorchers have won 6 games and lost 4, showcasing a balanced team effort. Beth Mooney stands out as the batting linchpin with 395 runs, including a century and two fifties, striding confidently at a strike rate of 134.81 and averaging 43.88.
Notably, Mooney is on the cusp of a remarkable milestone, surpassing 400 runs in a WBBL season for the 10th time. In bowling, Sophie Devine leads from the front, boasting 13 wickets at an average of 20.53 and a four-wicket haul, cementing her place among the tournament’s top wicket-takers. The Perth Scorchers will be eying their 2nd WBBL title after clinching their maiden title in the 7th edition of the tournament in 2021-22. The winner of the Scorchers vs Stars battle will take on the Sixers in a high-stakes challenger game.
Melbourne Stars: Powered by Lanning and Day
Melbourne Stars clinched the fourth playoff berth with 11 points, powered by 5 wins in 10 league matches. Skipper Annabel Sutherland commands the side, but it is former captain Meg Lanning who reigns supreme at the top of the batting charts, with 430 runs to her name, the highest in the tournament so far. Lanning’s tally includes three half-centuries and a century, accumulated at an impressive strike rate of 140.06 and an average exceeding 53.
Sophie Day spearheads the bowling unit with 16 wickets at an outstanding average of 10.68 and economy of 7.27, marking her as the joint second-highest wicket-taker alongside Sydney Sixers’ Gardner. The Stars face a crucial knockout showdown against the Scorchers on 9th December, with the winner earning the right to challenge the Sixers for a place in the final. Melbourne Stars, much like Hobart Hurricanes, will be eyeing their maiden WBBL title.
This edition of the WBBL has delivered thrilling encounters and stellar individual performances that deepen the excitement as the Finals Series unfolds. Each of the four finalists brings unique strengths, with consistent batting maestros and penetrative bowlers primed to influence the championship’s outcome.
