Sanjida Akter Meghla, a left-arm orthodox bowler, has already made her way into the national setup and gained valuable international experience at a young age.

Meghla’s international career began in October 2019, when she was named in Bangladesh’s squad for the away series against Pakistan. On 30 October 2019, she made her T20I debut against Pakistan, marking her first step onto the world stage.

Her steady development saw her being called up again in November 2021, this time for Bangladesh’s ODI squad against Zimbabwe, as well as for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe. Though opportunities were limited, her selection underlined the selectors’ belief in her potential to strengthen the team’s spin attack.

In January 2022, Meghla was named in the squad for the Commonwealth Games Cricket Qualifier in Malaysia. Later that same month, she was included as one of two reserve players for the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand, a sign that she remained on the radar for global tournaments despite being early in her career.

So far, Meghla has made one WODI appearance, though she has not yet registered her first wicket in the format. Her journey is still in its early stages, and the exposure to international competition at such a young age offers her the platform to grow into a more impactful role.

With patience, experience, and the opportunities that come with Bangladesh’s expanding international calendar, she has the chance to carve out a bigger role in the team’s bowling attack.
