Smriti Mandhana Reclaims the Top Spot in the Latest ODI Rankings Update

India, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, is hosting Australia, led by skipper Alyssa Healy, for a three-match ODI series from 14th to 20th September 2025. Australia won the first game by 8 wickets to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. The series opener, a high-scoring affair, has shaken up the ICC ODI Rankings, with notable movements across the board.

Batting Rankings:

South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp has climbed up one spot to the 11th position (633 points). New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine has climbed up one spot to the 13th position (616 points), and England’s Tammy Beaumont climbed up one spot to the 14th position (613 points).

India:

The Indian vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana, scored her 32nd half-century (58 off 63 balls) in the ODI format, continuing her rich vein of form in the format in the first ODI of the series. As a result, she has reclaimed the top spot (735 points), toppling Nat Sciver-Brunt with a one-spot rise. The wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh scored 25 (20 balls) with the bat for her side in the previous game. As a result, she climbed up 3 spots to equal the 36th position (524 points) alongside Natthakan Chantham from Thailand.

Another promising 25-year-old opening batter, Pratika Rawal, has been impressive with the bat for her side ever since she made her international debut for India. Australian veteran Beth Mooney scored an unbeaten half-century (77* off 74 balls), her 19th in the format, to guide her side over the line in the run chase in the first game of the series. As a result, she has climbed up three spots to the 5th position (685 points).

As a result, she earned a significant rise, climbing up 13 spots.

Bowling Rankings:

Veteran South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has also climbed up one spot to the 6th position (639 points). Pakistan’s Rameen Shamim climbed up a couple of spots to equal the 99th position (254 points), alongside Zaida James from the West Indies and Bree Illing from New Zealand.

India:

The experienced spinner Sneh Rana continues to impress with the ball since returning to India’s white-ball set-up. She returned with impressive match figures of 10-0-51-1 in her spell with the ball for her side in the first ODI against Australia. As a result, she has earned a significant rise as she has climbed up five spots to the 16th position (530 points).

Australia:

Kim Garth returned with an impressive spell of 10-1-56-1 and was the only bowler to complete her full quota of overs in the 1st ODI against India. As a result, she has climbed up one spot to the 4th position (652 points). Leg-spinner Alana King (6-1-28-1) was also impressive with the ball for her side in the previous game against India. Left-arm spinner Radha Yadav scored 19 (14 balls) with the bat for her side and returned with match figures of 8-0-61-0 with the ball for her side in her spell in the 1st ODI against Australia. As a result, she has earned a significant rise as she has climbed up 10 spots to equal the 91st position (50 points), alongside England’s Heather Knight, Papua New Guinea’s Pauke Siaka, and the Zimbabwean duo of Audrey Mazvishaya and Loreen Tshuma.

Australia:

Annabel Sutherland, besides picking up one wicket with the ball, she also scored an impressive unbeaten half-century with the bat for her side in the 1st ODI of the series against India. As a result, she has climbed up one spot to the 6th position (295 points).

Ellyse Perry scored a brisk 30* (38 balls) before getting retired hurt in the previous game against the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side. As a result, she has climbed up a couple of spots to the 13th position (217 points). The Australian vice-captain, Tahlia McGrath, returned with match figures of 4-0-33-1 in her spell with the ball for her side in the 1st game of the series.
