Cricket South Africa has revealed the 15-women ODI squad for South Africa’s upcoming ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and India. The squad features three players who have received their maiden ODI call-ups, with the veteran batter Laura Wolvaardt set to lead the side.

The biggest talking point of the team news is that veteran all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has been rested. As reported earlier, she will work on her conditioning block in preparation for the upcoming tours and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India. Kapp most recently was in action for the Delhi Capitals at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 where the Capitals finished as runners up to Mumbai Indians.
South Africa last played an ODI series in late 2024 against England, which they lost 1-2. Kapp is not the only player missing from that squad – seamer Ayanda Hlubi, who went wicketless in the series, wicketkeeper Mieke de Ridder, who scored an unbeaten 19 in her only appearance, and opener Lara Goodall, who managed 17 in her lone outing, have also been left out of the current squad. In their place, South Africa have turned to youth, handing opportunities to a trio of fresh faces.
Amongst the first-time call-ups, there is 17-year-old wicketkeeper Karabo Meso, and 19-year-old allrounder Seshnie Naidu, both of whom were part of the Proteas squad in the ICC Under-19 T20 World Cup earlier this year, which the Proteas lost to India in the final. While this will be their first ODI outing, both Naidu and Meso have played for the senior women’s team a couple of times in T20Is. The other new face is batting all-rounder Miane Smit, who is yet to make her senior debut for South Africa across any format.
The squad retains its experienced core Wolvaardt, Anneke Bosch, Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk, Ayabonga Khaka, Sune Luus and Chloe Tryon. Veteran allrounder Nondumiso Shangase returns to the squad, after having last played an ODI for the Proteas back in June 2024.
