Day 3: Vaishnavi Sharma’s 8-fer spins Team D to a comfortable victory over Team A

Dhara Gujjar’s unbeaten half-century and handy contributions from the lower order, followed by a mind-blowing spell from Vaishnavi Sharma blew Minnu Mani’s Team A away to power the Sneh Rana-led side over the line by a massive 52-run margin in the Senior Women’s Multi-Day Challenger Trophy 2025, sealing an impressive come-from-behind win.

Day 1: Sayali Satghare, Minnu Mani and Priya Mishra give Team A a dominant start

In the 5th game of the Senior Women’s Multi-day Challenger Trophy 2025, Team A, led by Minnu Mani, dominated Team D. Sayali Satghare and Minnu Mani combined to restrict Team D to 201, with Satghare taking 3 wickets and Mani claiming 4. Team D lost both openers early, and despite some partnerships, they couldn’t establish a strong foundation.

In response, Team A lost early wickets but stabilized through a 73-run stand between Richa Ghosh and Vrinda Dinesh. By the end of the first day, Team A was 138/4, trailing by 63 runs, with Dinesh unbeaten on 72*. Vaishnavi Sharma was notable for Team D, taking two wickets.

Day 2: Vrinda Dinesh’s century and the spin trio extend dominance for Team A

On Day 2, Dinesh Vrinda’s unbeaten century helped Team A secure a 46-run first innings lead. Vrinda’s 123* off 199 balls steered Team A to 247. Vaishnavi Sharma excelled for Team D with match figures of 32.5-8-78-6. In the second innings, Team D’s openers made a solid start with a 69-run stand.

However, Team A’s spin trio, Priya Mishra, Tanuja Kanwer, and Minnu Mani, helped to regain control. Mishra took 3 wickets, with Kanwer and Mani each claiming 1. Team D ended the 2nd days play at 167/6, leading by 121 runs. Both teams had their goals set for the final day, Team A aims to wrap up the match quickly, while Team D seeks to extend their lead to 200-220 and leave time to bowl out Team A.

Day 3: Dhara Gujjar’s fifty and Vaishnavi Sharma’s heroics powers Team D to win

The overnight batter for Vaishnavi Sharma (14 off 27 balls) departed in the 6th over of the 3rd and final day’s play in Dehradun. Skipper Minnu Mani provided the 7th breakthrough for her side. Amanjot Kaur joined Dhara Gujjar at the crease and the pair took their lead closer to the 180-run mark with a crucial 44-run partnership for the 8th wicket.

Tanuja Kanwer broke the threatening stand by sending Amanjot Kaur (17 off 30 balls) back to the pavilion in the 78th over of the innings to provide the 8th breakthrough for Team A. The Sneh Rana-led side eventually folded for 244 in 85.1 overs, leading Team A by 198 runs. Dhara Gujjar stayed unbeaten on a gritty half-century (61* off 163 balls), while Kashvee Gautam (12 off 12 balls) chipped in with a handy cameo with the bat for her side.

Priya Mishra (29-9-67-4), and skipper Minnu Mani (24.1-5-77-4), were the stand-out performers with the ball alongside Tanuja Kanwer (15-4-26-2) was impressive with the ball for their side.

Chasing a target of 199, Team A switched on the panic button and collapsed like a pack of nine pins, getting bundled out for 146, in 59.2 overs, falling 52 runs short of the target. A spirited 53-run partnership for the 9th wicket between Arundhati Reddy (39 off 97 balls) and Sayali Satghare (35* off 102 balls) tried their best to keep the Team D bowlers at bay.

Young sensation Vaishnavi Sharma (24.2-5-50-8) ran through the batting line-up in a quick time single-handedly turning the game around in her side’s favour. G Trisha (6-2-16-1), and Yamuna Rana (5-1-18-1) provided good support from the other end. Vaishnavi Sharma rightly earned the Player of the Match award for her game-defining spell, helping the Sneh Rana-led side become the first team to register an outstanding victory in the Senior Women’s Multi-day Challenger Trophy.

Team C’s top-order batter Tanushree Sarkar was awarded the Player of the Series aggregating an impressive tally of 398 runs at a strike rate of 55.89 and a mind-boggling average of 199 in five innings with the bat which included three centuries in five innings representing the Jemimah Rodrigues-led Team C. She also ended the tournament as the leading run-scorer for her side.
