The ICC has announced the nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month award for January 2025, featuring two seasoned campaigners in the shorter formats, alongside a rising star who lit up the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Beth Mooney, one of Australia’s most reliable batters, played a pivotal role in her team’s dominant Ashes triumph. West Indies’ off-spinner Karishma Ramharack made her mark with a string of match-winning performances against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, India’s U19 sensation Gongadi Trisha delivered a record-breaking campaign to help her team clinch the World Cup trophy. Notably, all three nominees are seeking their first-ever ICC Women’s Player of the Month title.

Beth Mooney (Australia)
Mooney was a driving force behind Australia’s commanding performance in the Ashes series against England. While she had a relatively quiet start, the left-handed opener found her rhythm in the third ODI in Hobart, where she played a crucial half-century knock. However, her most explosive performances came in the T20I series, where she amassed 213 runs at an exceptional strike rate of 146.89.
Mooney played a match-defining 75, followed by a fluent 44, before finishing the series with an unbeaten 94 off just 63 deliveries in Adelaide. Her consistency reinforced her status as the top-ranked batter in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings. This nomination marks her return to the list for the first time since January 2024.
Gongadi Trisha (India)
Teenage prodigy Gongadi Trisha was at the heart of India’s victorious U19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign in Malaysia, delivering a record-shattering performance. The 19-year-old finished January with 265 runs and four wickets, including an unforgettable display against Scotland.
In that contest, she etched her name in history by scoring the first-ever century in U19 Women’s T20 World Cup history, smashing 110* off 59 balls. She further showcased her all-round brilliance by taking 3/6 in the same match. Trisha capped off her remarkable tournament with a Player of the Match performance in the final, rightfully earning her the Player of the Tournament award.
Karishma Ramharack (West Indies)
Celebrating her maiden nomination for this prestigious award, Ramharack emerged as a standout performer in the West Indies’ hard-fought ODI series against Bangladesh. In the second match of the series, she delivered a career-best four-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 4/33, though it came in a losing effort.
She followed it up with an even better showing in the series decider, picking up another four-wicket haul (4/12), helping her team secure an emphatic eight-wicket victory. Her match-winning exploits earned her the Player of the Series award and cemented her reputation as a rising force in international cricket.
All three players are chosen on the basis of their performances from the first to the last day of the month (January 2025). The final winner is determined through voting, split between two groups: the independent ICC Voting Academy, which includes cricket experts such as journalists, broadcasters, former players, and Hall of Famers, holds a 90% voting share, while fans worldwide contribute the remaining 10% via the ICC’s official website.
