The Indian U-19 women’s team successfully defended their ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup title at Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, 2nd February. The team reached the finals undefeated, winning all their league matches & super six round as well. Defeating England in semifinals, India advanced into the final invincible.

The shining star of India’s consecutive World Cup-winning campaign was all-rounder Gongadi Trisha who consistently delivered match-winning performances. She won three Player of the Match Awards, including one in final, and was announced the Player of the Tournament, being the highest run-scorer (309 runs in 7 innings) and claiming 7 wickets.
Recognizing her outstanding efforts, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced a reward of ₹1 crore for Trisha as a token of appreciation for her stellar performance. Trisha, along with her family, met the Chief Minister at his residence in Jubilee Hills, where he congratulated her on her success and encouraged her to continue excelling on the international stage.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, CM’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, and Telangana Sports Authority Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy. The Chief Minister expressed his hopes that Trisha would continue to make Telangana and India proud with her cricketing achievements.
India’s first outing of the tournament was against the West Indies, where India defeated them by 9 wickets. Trisha however didn’t find her rhythm scoring only 4. However, she didn’t look back, having found her form, second match onwards. She smashed 27 runs with a strike rate of 225 as India defeated Malaysia by 10 wickets. In the last league match, she won the Player of the Match for her 49(44), helping India to set a target of 118.
India defeated Bangladesh by 8 wickets in their first super six match as Trisha scored 40(31). In the second super six match against Scotland, Trisha smashed the first-ever century in the competition‘s brief history, remaining unbeaten at 110 in just 59 balls. She won the Player of the Match for her all-round heroics, delivering a magic bowling spell of 3/6(2). This helped India win the match dominantly, by 150 runs.
She carried her explosive form into the semi-finals. India, playing against England, had to chase the target of 114. Trisha had set the tone for the chase with her wonderful 35(29). India successfully chased the target in 15 overs. However, it was on the grandest stage, the final, that Trisha truly proved her mettle. Rising to the occasion, she bowled a brilliant spell of 3/15(4), restricting South Africa to 82. Chasing down the modest target, she scored 44 off 33 balls, eventually leading India to win the finals by 9 wickets.
In addition to felicitating India’s future superstar Trisha, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also declared a reward of ₹10 lakh for team member and Telangana’s own Dhruti Kesar, as well as ₹10 lakh each for the team’s head coach Nooshin Al Khadeer and trainer Shalini.
